The Art Club is open to all adults no matter their skill level or experience; from complete beginners to amateur artists to professionals, all are welcome. Share your own skills and experience with our relaxed friendly group.
We offer an open art session once a week at the Bechange community hub on Tuesdays between 2pm and 4pm; feel free to pop-in and join us.
Our open session cost £3 per person with all materials (paper, pencils and paint) provided for and plenty of books, magazines and images for inspiration.

Aylesham Lantern Parade 2023
We had a great building and decorating our giant bauble (next time remember to measure the doors) - and Barbara was born! We started with a garden cane structure to build on with willow lengths, this was then covered in tissue paper soaked with PVA. Once dry, she was painted with mix of acrylic and poster paints - dry leaves and string were used at the end to give more silhouettes. Our inspiration for the decor was from the work of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry night.
Unfortunately the weather meant the parade was cancelled, but we displayed her on the market square where she received many compliments.
:::2024 UPDATE:::
During storm Isha, Barbra bauble managed to break free from her mooring and has not been spotted since.
She will be missed.

Open day and exhibition 2023
As part of the Aylesham Community Trust's week-long event showcasing the community groups of Aylesham, Aylesham Arts Club held an open day art session to try out some art skills and an exhibition of members artwork on Tuesday 19th September.
I would like to thank everyone who came along to see our works and those who had a go at some art, painting and drawing some giant fruit. It was lovely to speak to art lovers about our work and we had some really amazing feedback about the quality of the works - highly praised!
And the few who braved our open session and stayed to draw the giant fuirt; this was a great way to show how our open sessions are run in a fun and social way - without pressure.
Just as a reminder, our open sessions run on Tuesdays 2-4pm at Bechange and is available for all adults, no need to book – just pop-in with all basic materials provided for. We also have art books, magazines and picutres for inspiration.
Our sessions are relaxed and inclusive of all abilities – from beginners to accomplished artists wanting to experiment with something a bit different.

Aylesham Workshop Trust: Heritage Event 2022
The art was approached by the AWT to produce some works for the Heritage event they would be hosting in September 2022. We agreed to produce some artwork, some 3D paper mache works and even a fully working miners lamp in a huge scale - over a metre and a half tall! We also manged to create an interactive mine shaft which included a secret map room - all made out of fully recyclable materials.
We had great fun making these models and had many positive comments about our works, here is a selection of our work:
